Spotify has announced that it will start rolling out new sharing features to Android and iOS users globally.
As per the platform, starting May 10, Spotify makes it easier for users to share track or podcast episodes through social media channels. With that said, users globally may look forward to three new features, such timestamp sharing, an improved Canvas feature, and an updated sharing menu on mobile with a clearer layout. Check out more information about the features below.
• New podcast timestamp sharing – Previously, users could only share the link to an entire episode. With new podcast timestamp sharing, users can now share podcast episodes beginning at a particular moment. To share a timestamp, just tap the “share” button while listening to the episode, use the “switch to share” feature at the current playtime, and then select where you want to share the content to. Then, those on the receiving end just need to tap the shared link to start listening.
• Canvas comes to even more platforms – As per Spotify, the Canvas feature turns static song pages into video-art showcases. Now, in addition to sharing favorite tracks with Canvas via Instagram Stories, users can also use Snapchat.
• Canvas previews and a new layout – The platform also unveils an updated sharing menu on mobile with a clearer layout. Users may preview the Canvas they are sharing on Instagram Stories or Snapchat ahead of time, so they could able to visualize how it will be presented on their social channel. Additionally, the users’ available messaging and social media destinations will be dynamically populated based on the apps they have installed and laid out clearly in an easy-to-view grid.
