Google has recently announced the rebranding of its productivity apps, G Suite, to Google Workspace. Among the office apps included are Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet.
The rebranding brings a new user experience, logos for the apps, and new solutions tailored to its customers’ needs.
Google Workspace now offers an integrated and unified experience that is now available to all paying customers. In the coming weeks, they may also create and collaborate on a document with guests in a Chat room.
Customers may now also preview a linked file from Docs, Sheets, and Slides without opening a new tab. A smart chip will now appear to show contact details when the user mentions someone in the document and suggest actions. Google will also put the Meet picture-in-picture feature in the said apps so people can actually hear and see their collaborators.
The Meet app now comes with support for various devices, including Chromecast and Nest Smart displays.
Google Workspace will also be available to GSuite Education and Nonprofits customers while maintaining access to select Google tools. Google Workspace plans start at USD 4.20 for Business Starter with 30GB of cloud storage, up to 100 Meet participants, custom and secured business email, standard support, and security and management support. Meanwhile, existing G Suite Basic, Business, or Enterprise customers will be assisted for the transition of the apps.
