Reports: Angels agree to one-year deal with closer Kenley Jansen

The Los Angeles Angels have added a legendary closer to their bullpen.

According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, the Angels reached an agreement with right-hander Kenley Jansen on Tuesday. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal added that the two sides agreed to a one-year, $10-million deal.

The 37-year-old closer enters the 2025 season fourth on the all-time saves list with 447. He is 31 behind Hall of Famer Lee Smith for third on the all-time list.

Jansen spent the past two seasons with the Boston Red Sox. In 2024, he finished with 27 saves and a 3.29 ERA over 54.2 innings pitched.

Jansen spent most of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He started in the majors with the Dodgers in 2010 and pitched there for 12 seasons before joining the Atlanta Braves in 2022.

Jansen is a four-time MLB All-Star and won a World Series with the Dodgers in 2020.
