Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten returns to ice with development staff

After suffering an injury prior to training camp, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten finally returned to the ice.

In a video shared by The Hockey News’ Nick Barden, Minten skated with Maple Leafs development staff ahead of the team’s optional practice on Thursday.

The 20-year-old Mitten suffered a high-ankle sprain during a game against Montreal in the Prospect’s Showdown prior to training camp after a check from Canadiens prospect David Reinbacher.

He exited the game and was later diagnosed with the sprain. Minten did not participate in training camp.

The 2022 38th-overall pick from the Maple Leafs was scheduled to spend the 2024-25 campaign developing in the AHL with the Marlies, but he has been held out the first two games of their season with the injury.

The Vancouver native spent most of the 2023-24 season with the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades after getting a few reps with the Maple Leafs, tallying 19 goals and 38 points in 36 regular-season games before adding 14 points in 16 playoff games.
