Display

When it comes to the display, the two sport above 6-inch screens with Super AMOLED panels, so you can expect immersive viewing experiences with rich colors and deep blacks. While the realme 8 Pro has a slightly higher pixel count, the Samsung Galaxy A72 has a slightly larger screen and 90Hz refresh rate for some smooth animations and transitions.

Storage

The realme 8 Pro is only available in 128GB, while the Samsung Galaxy A72 comes in either 128GB or 256GB. However, the realme device features a dedicated microSD card slot for easy expansion without sacrificing dual-SIM capabilities.

Cameras

The two are equipped with quad-rear camera setups. The realme 8 Pro has a significantly higher 108MP main camera resolution and a depth camera. However, the Samsung Galaxy A72 offers a telephoto lens and a higher camera resolution for ultra-wide and macro cameras.

For the front camera, the Samsung Galaxy A72 also has a higher 32MP resolution for more detailed selfies, compared to the realme 8 Pro’s 16MP.

Other features

Both units feature similar specs like 4G LTE, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.0 NFC, USB-C, 3.5mm audio ports, and fingerprint scanners. However, the Samsung Galaxy A72 features stereo speakers for a more immersive sound when watching videos or playing games.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy A72 has a bigger battery capacity compared to the realme 8 Pro’s 4,500mAh battery. However, the former only has 25W fast charging, which is slower than the 50W fast charger on the latter. While the Samsung Galaxy A72 might last longer, the realme 8 Pro can replenish its battery faster.

Chipset and RAM

Both sport Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G SoC with Adreno 618 GPU. The two also sport the same RAM options at 6GB and 8GB, so we expect the same level of performance.

Which one to get?

We don’t have the local price yet for the realme 8 Pro, so we can’t judge them yet based on affordability. But based on the specs, if you want a device with a high refresh rate, bigger storage option, a telephoto camera, a higher camera resolution for the ultra-wide, macro, and selfie cameras, stereo speakers, and a larger battery, the Samsung Galaxy A72 is the right one to get.

But if you’re looking for a dedicated microSD card slot, a high main camera resolution and depth-sensing camera, and faster-charging rate, you should opt for the realme 8 Pro.
