• Bluetooth 5.1 (vs. 5.0)
• More affordable
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G
• Super AMOLED display
• 120Hz refresh rate
• Corning Gorilla Glass 5
• Quad rear cameras
• Higher front camera resolution (32MP)
• Stereo speakers, sound by AKG, Dolby Atmos
• Expandable storage via microSD (Hybrid)
Display
Both devices pack large 6-inch screens, with the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G being slightly larger at 6.5-inch. However, the 0.07-inch difference isn’t much of a big deal.
Both smartphones come with an FHD+ display with 2400 x 1080 resolution. Both can also deliver rich colors and deep blacks, thanks to the AMOLED screen on the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and Super AMOLED on the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G. However, the Super AMOLED is more advanced, and it integrates touch-sensors and the actual screen in a single layer.
Moreover, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G offers a smooth 90Hz, but the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G has an even smoother 120Hz refresh rate. With a higher refresh rate, scrolling through social media, long documents, or news feeds is less strenuous on the eyes because of the extra perceived fluidity.
As a clear winner in terms of display, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is also equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against damage from drops. According to Corning, the Gorilla Glass 5 survives up to 1.2-meter waist-high drops onto hard, rough surfaces.
RAM and Storage
The OnePlus Nord CE 5G comes in either 8GB + 128GB or 12GB + 256GB. On the flip side, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G comes in a single configuration of 8GB + 256GB with expandable storage of up to 1TB via microSD.
The OnePlus Nord CE 5G has more to offer for the RAM department with as much as 12GB. Having a bigger RAM is an advantage as it supports your phone’s processing capacity and allows it to do more at the same time.
Camera
For the cameras, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G comprises triple rear cameras with 64MP (main), 8MP (ultrawide), and 2MP (mono) sensors. However, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G takes advantage of having quad rear cameras with 64MP (main), 12MP (ultrawide), 5MP (macro), and 5MP (depth) sensors.
Meanwhile, for selfies, the Samsung device also takes a leap against its opponent with its 32MP front camera.
These numbers don’t always equate to quality. We will provide proof of which camera is better once we test both units for comparison.
CPU and GPU
The two devices are powered by premium mid-range chipsets from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 750G paired with Adreno 619 GPU. With these, we can expect the same level of performance on both. However, note that we can only determine the extent of their performance and thermals once we have both units for a review.
Connectivity & Other Features
As for connectivity, the two are powered with similar specs, such as 5G connectivity, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, and dual-SIM.
However, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G has more advanced Bluetooth 5.1 than the Galaxy A52 5G’s Bluetooth 5.0. Even if the difference between the two Bluetooth versions is not that huge, Bluetooth 5.1 delivers faster connection initiation, lower power consumption, and better signal broadcasting. It also features updates to GATT caching, changes to the use of the advertising channel index, and periodic advertising sync transfer.
Furthermore, audio is another edge of the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G over the OnePlus Nord CE 5G as it is equipped with stereo speakers powered by AKG and Dolby Atmos. Meanwhile, if you have wired Audio peripherals, both phones also have access to a 3.5mm audio jack.
Battery
Both OnePlus Nord CE 5G and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G have the same 4,500mAh battery. However, the former supports the faster 30W charging rate, while the latter has a 25W. This means the OnePlus Nord CE 5G replenishes juice quicker.
Price
The OnePlus Nord CE 5G comes more affordable with a price tag of PHP 16,990 for the 8GB + 128GB, and PHP 19,990 for the 12GB + 256GB. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G (8GB + 256GB) retails at 23,999.
Which one to get?
Despite having many similarities, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G evidently has more to offer than the OnePlus Nord CE 5G in terms of display, cameras, and audio— which are beneficial for multimedia use. So if you have an extra budget of PHP 4K, these are the perks you’ll be taking home if you get the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G.
The OnePlus Nord CE 5G, though, is still a worthy pick as it comes cheaper. Plus, it also gives the benefit of having a bigger 12GB of RAM and a faster charging rate.
