Patriots QB Drake Maye to start vs. Titans after clearing concussion protocol

The New England Patriots received some positive health news on Saturday.

Quarterback Drake Maye cleared concussion protocol and is in line to start Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, the team announced.

Maye sustained a head injury during the second quarter of last week’s upset win over the New York Jets. He was relieved by backup Jacoby Brissett, who guided the team through the finish line of the 25-22 victory.

The rookie Maye was selected third overall in April’s NFL draft. He took over as the Patriots’ starter in Week 6 after Brissett was benched.

Over parts of four games, Maye has compiled 564 yards with five passing touchdowns and two interceptions. The 22-year-old has also added 113 yards and one score on the ground.

The Patriots sit fourth in the AFC East at 2-6. They visit the Titans (1-6, fourth in AFC South) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
