Buffalo Sabres defenceman Rasmus Dahlin left practice early on Thursday for what head coach Lindy Ruff described as “maintenance.”
Dahlin, 24, has been a steady contributor for the Sabres all season. The Swedish D-man has played in all 22 contests for the squad thus far and ranks second on the team with 19 points (six goals, 13 assists).
The former first-overall pick in 2018 currently ranks tied for sixth amongst defencemen in the NHL for total points this season. Dahlin has been especially effective on the power play unit, his three goals on a man-advantage are tied for second amongst defencemen and his eight points are 10th-most this season.
Ruff didn’t seem overly concerned by the early departure saying: “I don’t believe it’ll affect him, but you never know until tomorrow.”
Buffalo returns to action on Friday, hosting the Vancouver Canucks for the first end of a back-to-back. The Sabres then make a quick trip to New York to visit the Islanders on Saturday night.
