Ludvig Aberg among four more players who commit to play RBC Canadian Open

The RBC Canadian Open field just got a little stronger.

Ludvig Aberg, Tom Kim, Sungjae Im and Alex Noren have committed to play in Canada’s lone PGA Tour stop, organizers announced on Friday.

The tournament is set for June 5-8 and will be contested for the first time at TPC Toronto in Caledon, Ont.

Sweden’s Aberg, the sixth-ranked player in the world, made his professional debut at the 2023 Canadian Open and has since won twice on Tour, including this season’s Genesis Invitational.

The 25-year-old also has three top-10s on the year and competed at the 2023 Ryder Cup alongside Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry and Justin Rose — all of whom will also tee it up at TPC Toronto.

Aberg’s fellow Swede, Noren, heads to the Canadian Open after playing in the final group on Sunday at the PGA Championship, where he ultimately tied for 17th. The 42-year-old will be making his third career appearance in Canada.

Korea’s Im and Kim, meanwhile, are both top-50 players as they head north of the border. Im, 27, has three top-10s on the season including a fifth-place finish at The Masters. Kim, 22, tied for fourth at last season’s Canadian Open.

Meanwhile, college standouts Luke Clanton (Florida State) and Gordon Sargent (Vanderbilt) will also compete in the tournament, which takes place one week before the U.S. Open.

The latest commitments join the likes of Americans Max Homa, Wyndham Clark and Sam Burns in the field.

Canadians set to play in their national open include Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith, 2023 champion Nick Taylor, Adam Hadwin, Mackenzie Hughes, Mike Weir and others.
