HONOR is back in the Philippines! And with its return are new smartphones with the Honor Magic4 Pro leading the pack. It has a 6.81-inch curved OLED display, triple-rear cameras, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset. Read our initial impressions below.
One of the first things we noticed about the Magic4 Pro is the premium build. At 215g, it’s a hefty device but you can feel high-end quality thanks to the glass panels on the front and back, and the cool metal frame in the middle. It’s chunky, too, at 9.15mm thick.
The front houses the 6.81-inch OLED display that curves to the sides. The top and bottom bezels are thin, so the overall viewing experience is immersive. Placed in the upper left corner is a pill-shaped hole punch for the 12MP camera and 3D depth sensor.
Placed on the right side are the power/lock button and the volume buttons. They’re plastic but firm and clicky, and easy to reach, too, since they’re placed close to the middle of the frame.
Up top, we have the loudspeaker, microphone, and IR blaster.
Down at the bottom are the SIM card tray, main microphone, USB-C port, and loudspeaker.
At the back, we have the circular camera module that houses the 50MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide, 64MP telephoto, ToF sensor, and the flicker sensor. According to HONOR, the ToF sensor improves image focus speed and accuracy in low light, while the flicker sensor helps reduce flickers during photoshoots.
Probably by now, you’ll notice something about the design. If it’s familiar, that’s because it shares some of its design cues with the Huawei Mate 40, especially in the pill-shaped hole-punch, curved edges, and camera module design. We don’t mind, though, as it’s attractive and has the allure of a flagship smartphone. The only grip we have is that the glass back panel is a smudge magnet.
Powering the HONOR Magic4 Pro is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset with an octa-core CPU clocked at a maximum of 3.0GHz, an Adreno 740 GPU, up to 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. For the battery, we have a 4,600mAh capacity with 100W wired and wireless charging, which is impressive.
The HONOR Magic 4 Pro with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at PHP 52,990.
