New York Rangers star goaltender Igor Shesterkin will not dress for the second game in a row on Tuesday when the team hosts the Detroit Red Wings.
The team has not specified the nature of Shesterkin’s injury, other than saying he has minor soreness and is day to day.
Jonathan Quick makes his second start in a row for the Rangers after suffering a 5-4 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
Call-up Louis Dominigue is the backup.
Canadiens forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard will remain out when the team hosts the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.
Harvey-Pinard suffered a lower-body injury last Thursday against the Arizona Coyotes and is listed as day to day.
The 24-year-old native of Saguenay, Que. has four assists in 10 games this season.
Detroit Red Wings
Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin will be a game-time decision to face the Rangers because of “bumps and bruises,” coach Derek Lalonde told reporters.
Larkin did skate in the morning skate.
Larkin has five goals and 12 assists in 12 games this season.
Coach D.J. Smith told reporters that forwards Ridly Greig and Mark Kastelic will be out of the lineup for at least the next two weeks.
Both players suffered lower-body injuries last Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings.
The Senators are hopeful of getting defenceman Artem Zub (upper-body injury) back in the lineup Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
