The Denver Nuggets have signed head coach Michael Malone to a lucrative contract extension that will make him one of the NBA’s highest-paid coaches, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday.
Malone led the Nuggets to their first NBA title in franchise history last season.
The 52-year-old head coach is in his ninth season with the Nuggets and has a 375-272 regular-season record as the team’s head coach.
Malone trails only Doug Moe and George Karl in all-time wins among Nuggets head coaches.
The Nuggets have started the season 8-2 and sit atop the Western Conference.
