The Calgary Flames are making some changes amidst a six-game losing streak, sending top prospect Matt Coronato down to the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers.
Coronato, who turns 21 later this month, has struggled to score as a rookie this season, recording two points and a minus-nine rating in 10 games.
The Harvard product was a first-round pick by the Flames (13th overall) in 2021.
In a corresponding move, the Flames recalled forward Martin Pospisil from the Wranglers. If he dresses for the Flames, it would be his NHL debut.
Pospisil, who turns 24 later this month, was a fourth-round pick by the Flames in 2018. He is in his fifth AHL season with the Flames organization, and has six points in six games so far this year at that level.
Earlier this week, the Flames recalled forward Connor Zary from the AHL. The former first-round pick scored against Dallas in his NHL debut, but the Stars ultimately beat the Flames 4-3.
The Flames have scored just 22 goals and have a 2-7-1 record through the first 10 games of the season. They will try to snap their losing streak on the road against the Kraken on Saturday night.
