It appears Thatcher Demko will be staying on the West Coast.
Demko and the Vancouver Canucks are closing in on a contract extension that could be finalized as soon as Tuesday, sources confirm to Sportsnet.
The Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravelli was the first to report the news Monday.
Demko, 29, has a career .910 save percentage and 2.81 goals-against average in 242 NHL games, all with the Canucks. He had a career-best year in 2023-24, when he recorded a .918 save percentage, 2.45 goals-against average and five shutouts, finishing second in Vezina Trophy voting.

Demko struggled last season after suffering an injury in Game 1 of the 2024 playoffs and appeared in just 23 games during the 2024-25 season. He finished the year with a .889 save percentage.
The San Diego, Calif. native was selected 36th overall by the Canucks at the 2014 NHL Draft.
