Reports: Thomas Muller agrees to two-year deal with Whitecaps

The Vancouver Whitecaps are bringing in a big-name talent.

Thomas Müller reached an agreement on a two-year deal with the Canadian squad, Fabrizio Romano reported Tuesday.

GiveMeSports broadcaster Ben Jacobs was the first to report that the two sides were close to the deal on Monday.

Müller has spent the entirety of his career with Bayern Munich as one of the best forwards in soccer. The 35-year-old scored 250 goals and added 276 assists in 756 games en route to 13 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League championships.

Vancouver had to acquire Müller’s discovery rights from FC Cincinnati – a clause in the MLS that gives a team priority to negotiate.

Müller rejected a deal to join FC Cincinnati.
