Report: Pistons’ Jalen Duren to participate in Slam Dunk Contest

The NBA Slam Dunk Contest is nearly filled out.

Detroit Pistons centre Jalen Duren has accepted an invitation to participate in the annual showcase, joining Los Angeles Lakers centre Jaxson Hayes and San Antonio Spurs wing Carter Bryant, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday.

Duren, 22, has enjoyed a breakout year with the Eastern Conference-leading Pistons, averaging 18 points and 10.7 rebounds, both career highs.

He has 111 dunks this season and is finishing those looks at a 94.9 per cent.

The fourth and final participant in the contest has not yet been announced; however, three-time reigning champ Mac McClung announced last week that he would not be defending his title.

The contest will take place Feb. 14 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
