Snapchat introduces a new feature that allows users to submit short-form monetized videos on the platform.
Dubbed as Spotlight, the feature showcases the best video Snaps submitted by Snapchat users. Qualified content creators may earn a share of more than USD 1 million that the company is distributing every day.
Snapchat users age 16 and older should submit up to 1-minute long, original vertical videos with audio to qualify and earn money using the feature. They should be appropriate for viewers ages 13 and above, contain a hashtag for the topic of their videos on the Send To page, and may use Snapchat’s creative tools. Users should only use music from Snapchat’s licensed library.
Snap videos that will be submitted under the Spotlight feature must adhere to Snapchat’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Spotlight Terms.
Snaps from the user’s Camera Roll or Memories may be submitted. However, Snapchat may limit the videos that users may submit on Spotlight within a time period. Those who have a public profile on Snapchat can have their display name associated with their submitted Spotlight Snap.
Currently, the Spotlight feature is available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and France. It will roll out on more countries soon.
