5G smartphones are becoming more common and we’re seeing more competition especially in the mid-range segment. Two smartphones that caught our attention are the Motorola Edge 20 Fusion and the OPPO Reno6 Z 5G. Both are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipsets, have 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and are priced under PHP 20K. But which one looks better on paper? Find out below.

Display
Both devices provide large immersive screens of above 6-inches. The Edge 20 Fusion 5G, though, is slightly larger but only by 0.3-inch. Both have the same Full HD+ resolution, which gives the Reno6 Z 5G an advantage when it comes to pixel count. However, the 18ppi difference is not that noticeable.
Both phones offer deep blacks and punchy colors thanks to the OLED screen on the Moto phone and AMOLED on the Reno. However, the Moto has the advantage in terms of quality as it supports 8-bit color depth, smooth 90Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support.
Chipset and Memory
Both smartphones are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G chipset with Mali-G57 MC3 GPU and are offered in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration. Given the similarities in chipset and memory, the two devices produce the same level of performance as evident in the benchmark scores in our reviews:

The Reno smartphone, though, has the advantage in memory expansion as it has a dedicated slot for the microSD card, compared to the Moto’s hybrid setup.
Cameras
Both smartphones feature triple-rear cameras. The Moto, though, has a higher main camera resolution at 108MP compared to the Reno’s 64MP, and it has a dedicated 2MP depth-sensing camera for better portrait effects. The Reno, on the other hand, has a dedicated macro camera, which is good if you like taking photos of tiny subjects. For selfies, both sport 32MP shooters.

Connectivity and other features
The two smartphones feature dual-SIM with 5G support, WiFi 5, GPS, USB-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack. However, the Moto phone has NFC and a water-repellent design. The Reno, on the other hand, offers an updated Bluetooth 5.1.
Battery
The Moto already wins in terms of capacity as it has a 5,000mAh battery compared to the Reno’s 4,310mAh. Both have 30W fast charging, although the latter supports reverse charging, which is another advantage.
Battery life also favors the Moto as we got 24 hours and 1 minute of playback, which is significantly better than the 19 hours and 33 minutes we got on the Reno.
Which one to get?
The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G is priced at PHP 19,999, while the Motorola Edge 20 Fusion is priced at PHP 15,995. That’s a PHP 4,004 difference. If you need the dedicated microSD card slot, macro lens, Bluetooth 5.1, and reverse wired charging, you can go and get the Reno. But based on value, the Moto is the better choice and you get to save some cash.
