Xiaomi recently introduced a new wearable called the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro, sporting a 1.64-inch AMOLED display, built-in GNSS, and a slew of health monitor features like heart rate, SpO2, sleep, and female health tracking, to name a few. Read our hands-on below.
As the name suggests, you can consider this as the ‘Pro’ version of the Xiaomi Smart Band 7. While the Band 7 looks like a fitness band, the Band 7 Pro looks like a smartwatch.
It has a slightly larger screen than the Band 7 at 1.64-inches (vs. 1.62-inches) but it looks wider due to its rectangular frame. It has a 280 x 456 resolution or equal to a sharp 326ppi and uses an AMOLED panel for rich colors and deep blacks.
The screen is covered with 2.5D micro-curved tempered glass with anti-fingerprint coating. If you look from the side, you’ll notice that it has a slight curve. The glass is highly polished and very smooth. However, it’s a fingerprint magnet so you’ll need to wipe it every now and then.
The screen is encased in a metallic frame that comes in either gold or gray color. The unit we have is the ivory model, as evident in the strap, but it also comes in Olive, Orange, Blue, Black, Pink, Pine Green, and Moon Gray.
Speaking of the strap, it is removable and made of Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) which is smooth and soft, and resistant to oil. The buckle, on the other hand, is made of Polyoxymethylene (POM) which is high-quality hard plastic.
Under the smartwatch, we have sensors, which include the heart rate sensor, blood oxygen sensor, and magnetic charging port.
To get started with the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro, you’ll need to download the Mi Fitness app. From there, you’ll just have to follow the instructions when it comes to pairing. Setup is quick and all we need to do is scan the QR code on the watch and the app will take care of the pairing using Bluetooth 5.2 BLE. Everything is done in under 3 minutes.
The Band 7 Pro is slightly heavier than the Band 7 by about 7g but it still feels very light, which you will notice if you’re used to wearing a traditional watch or a larger smartwatch. It’s comfortable and we didn’t mind wearing it while working or doing chores around the house, even washing the dishes thanks to its 5ATM water-resistant body.
When it comes to features, it has built-in GNSS, meaning it supports BeiDou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS systems to keep track of your location when doing outdoor activities such as running. It supports 110+ workout modes with a chance to unlock 14 specialized workout modes, and “Competition” so you can invite a friend and compete with each other when it comes to achieving exercise goals.
The usual health monitoring features are here like all-day heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring, stress level monitoring, sleep monitoring, and female health management, which is great for women who want to keep track of their reproductive health. If you want to customize the Band 7 Pro, you can also choose from over 150 watch faces available in the app.
When it comes to battery life, the Band 7 Pro has a 235mAh battery, which is larger than the Band 7’s 180mAh, and capable of lasting up to 12 days on a single charge. Charging, on the other hand, takes about an hour.
The Xiaomi Band 7 Pro is priced at PHP 4,599, which is more expensive than the Band 7 priced at PHP 2,399. If you’re willing to spend more, you’ll get a slightly larger screen with a rectangle smartwatch design, more features, and a longer battery. And I think it’s worth it.
