Report: NHL player safety boss George Parros to visit Anaheim for Leafs-Ducks

It’s like the principal stopping by the classroom to check in on some troublesome students.

Department of Player Safety head George Parros will attend Monday night’s Anaheim DucksToronto Maple Leafs tilt, according to a report in The Hockey News, the first rematch since Radko Gudas ended Auston Matthews’ season with a hit that initially earned the defenceman a five-minute major and game misconduct.

Parros, who has been the senior vice president of player safety for the NHL since September 2017, suspended Gudas for five games, a penalty that was criticized as being too lenient.

Gudas’ knee-on-knee hit resulted in a Grade 3 MCL tear for Matthews that required surgery.
