Department of Player Safety head George Parros will attend Monday night’s Anaheim Ducks–Toronto Maple Leafs tilt, according to a report in The Hockey News, the first rematch since Radko Gudas ended Auston Matthews’ season with a hit that initially earned the defenceman a five-minute major and game misconduct.
Parros, who has been the senior vice president of player safety for the NHL since September 2017, suspended Gudas for five games, a penalty that was criticized as being too lenient.
Gudas’ knee-on-knee hit resulted in a Grade 3 MCL tear for Matthews that required surgery.
