The New York Sirens will continue their standout 2026 campaign without forward Taylor Girard.
Girard has been placed on long-term injured reserve following a lower-body injury she sustained in a Takeover Tour game in Denver against the Minnesota Frost on Sunday. Forward Clair DeGeorge, who spent the season with the Toronto Sceptres, was released by the team after playing in 17 games, and signed a standard player agreement with the Sirens on Wednesday.
The Sirens also activated Nicole Vallario from the reserve player list and signed her to a 10-day standard player agreement. To replace DeGeorge, the Sceptres activated Kristin Della Rovere from the reserve list and signed her to a standard player agreement. Della Rovere hasn’t played in a PWHL game since 2024 when she appeared in nine games and recorded one goal for the Charge.
Girard has a career high seven goals across 17 games and is tied for fifth-best on the Sirens in scoring. The 27-year-old has eight points on the season.
“Taylor’s absence is obviously a situation we would have greatly preferred to avoid, as she has made meaningful contributions across all areas since joining our team,” general manager Pascal Daoust said in a statement.
DeGeorge is a three-year veteran of the league who played for the Frost when they won the inaugural Walter Cup in 2024. She has yet to record a point this season, but has three assists over 66 career games.
“Her experience and the impact she’s had on winning over the past few seasons make her a key addition as we continue our pursuit of excellence. She brings a high level of intensity and a strong commitment to playing her role within the team structure, and she’s the type of teammate who elevates everyone around her,” Daoust said.
Vallario scored the opening goal in the Sirens’ home opener on Nov. 29 with her first-ever PWHL shot. Since that game, the 24-year-old has suited up for New York only one other time.
