Huawei has officially launched in China its latest foldable smartphone, the Mate X2, packing a 6.45-inch 90Hz external display, 8-inch 90Hz internal display, Kirin 9000 SoC, 50MP quad-rear cameras, 5G connectivity, and a 4,500mAh battery.
Huawei implemented significant upgrades on the Mate X2, one of which is the newly-designed hinge that folds the screen up to 180-degrees, eliminating gaps in the phone when folded. The hinge is also designed in such a way that it protects the middle part of the screen from creases.
The Mate X2 also features a wedge or sloping design, thicker on one side where the camera module is, then elegantly slopes down to the other side where it is thinner. Huawei says that this design moves the device’s center of gravity closer to the palm.
