Display
The first thing one notices is a device’s display. The Huawei MatePad 11 (2021) sports a larger screen at 10.95-inches compared to the 10.8-inch of the MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021) with the same 2560 x 1600 resolution. The difference in size is negligible, though, so we can say that both have good displays. However, the MatePad 11 2021 has a 120Hz screen refresh rate which is a plus for those who enjoy a smooth viewing experience.
CPU and GPU
Under the hood, the Huawei MatePad 11 (2021) is powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor, while its sibling, the MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021), sports a Snapdragon 870 processor. Both have Adreno 650 GPUs. When compared, the Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021) performs better by 10%, getting a rating of 645,331, while the Huawei MatePad 11 (2021) is rated at 586,630 in its AnTuTu 8 benchmark.
RAM and Storage
For the memory department, the Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021) has a larger RAM option of 8GB and an additional storage option of 256GB. The Huawei MatePad 11 (2021) sits at 6GB of RAM and only 128GB of storage. However, the Huawei Matepad 11 (2021) has support for the more common microSD cards up to 1TB, compared to the 256GB NM card of the MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021).
Camera
Both tablets feature the same 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. Its specs have the same resolution quality but we will know for sure which one is better, if not equally good, once we take both tablets in for a review.
Connectivity & Other Features
Both tablets support the same features for Huawei M-pencil support, same WiFi 6 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.1, USB Type-C, and runs on HarmonyOS 2.0. The only difference lies with its microphone, the Matepad 11 (2021) has four, while the MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021) has five which means it can pick up audio better for improved voice quality in online calls. In terms of sound, both tablets have four speakers powered by Harman Kardon. Both also support Huawei’s M-Pencil.
Battery
Both tablets feature a 7,250mAh battery. However, the MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021) has faster charging rates at 40W, 27W wireless charging, and 10W wireless reverse charging. The MatePad 11 (2021) only has a 22.5W fast charge and a 5W reverse charge.
Which one to get?
The Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021) seems like the better choice if you’re aiming for performance thanks to its upgraded chipset, bigger RAM and storage, and faster charging rates. If you’re thinking of using a tablet for attending online calls, the five microphones are great features to have. However, it’s not available in the Philippines at the moment. It’s MatePad Pro 12.6 (2021) big brother is here, though.
Then we have the MatePad 11 (2021), while it looks a bit toned-down compared to its Pro sibling, it has 120Hz refresh rate and has support for microSD cards. The Snapdragon 865 is still powerful by today’s standards, while 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage are enough for casual users who will mostly use it for watching content and attending online calls and classes. And it’s available in the Philippines for PHP 26,999.
What do you guys think? Should Huawei release the Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021) here or the MatePad 11 (2021) is enough? Feel free to share your thoughts about it in the comments below.
