Merchants Accepting Axie Infinity’s SLP as Payment in the Philippines

Axie Infinity keeps its popularity growing in the Philippines. Axie Infinity is classified as an NFT game that allows individuals to earn currency from playing the game as they breed, raise, battle, and trade Axie creatures in the marketplace. Smooth Love Potion (SLP) Tokens are players’ in-game rewards in the popular NFT game. In line with this, some merchants now accept SLPs as a mode of payment in exchange for products and services.

Leisure and Travel

• Inflatable Island PH – dubbed as the “Home of the Unicorn Island.” It is the biggest floating playground in Asia, located at Olongapo, Zambales.
• The Dessert Museum – as its name suggests, showcases large, colorful sculptures of dessert items. You can find The Dessert Museum at the Conrad Hotel Manila MOA Complex, Pasay City.

Online Stores

• SOLID TOYS – If getting collectibles and designer toys is your thing, you may have them in exchange for your SLPs.
• Trendseller | Sneaky X PH – Want to buy a new pair of shoes? These are the online stores that accept SLPs.
• Gilmore Online | Justin’s Laptop Stop | LRD Computers – These stores may provide your electronics, computer, and accessories needs.
• ZION Philippines – ZION brings massage chairs and furniture to the market. This online store delivers nationwide for free.

Food and Beverages

• Super Boink Unlimited Korean BBQ (Balanga, Bataan) | JEONJU PALACE PULILAN (Pulilan, Bulacan) – If you are craving Samgyupsal, you may use your SLPs as a mode of payment in these restaurants.
• Chi Figata – This milk tea shop lets you convert your SLP to milk tea and pastries.
• Bakebe PH – If you want to learn how to bake, this place is for you. Bakebe PH is a baking studio where anyone can bake cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.

Health & Wellness

• The Architect PH – The Architect PH is an online fitness coaching service provider. In partnership with ASGroup, it now accepts SLP as payment for its services.
• Smile Craft Dental Center – Those who live near General Kalentong, Mandaluyong, and need dental services may visit Smile Craft Dental Center, an Orthodontic and General Dental Center.

Cars & Transportation

• Ecowash – Ecowash provides a go-to cleaning solution for cars.
• Envirocab – Envirocab is a taxi fleet company that provides transport services over Metro Manila. Envirocab recently announced its acceptance of SLP as one of its payment methods.

As of the writing (August 31, 3 PM), SLP is valued at PHP 6.15.

Axie Infinity became a hot topic when the DOF and BIR clarified that play-to-earn games earnings from platforms similar to Axie Infinity are subject to income tax.

Recently, the BSP is also looking into classifying Axie Infinity as OPS like GCash, PayMaya, and other banks. This means the BSP is actively monitoring the game, how players use and exchange SLP Token as a form of payment, and the extent of its merchant network.

Once the central bank has determined that Axie Infinity players use and exchange SLP Tokens as payment for purchases, it will require Vietnam-based Sky Mavis or its local partner to register with the BSP as an OPS; otherwise, it should stop operating.

Meanwhile, Sky Mavis, the company behind Axie Infinity said in a statement that they look forward to working with the government, and they encourage the Axie community members to abide by the laws of their home countries.
