Buffalo Sabres fans are crossing their fingers after an interesting development to start training camp on Wednesday.
Star defneceman Rasmus Dahlin left the ice a few minutes into practice, with the team later saying he would not be returning, according to multiple reports.
After practice, Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said he had no update on Dahlin, per Lance Lysowski of the Buffalo News.
Picked first overall by the Sabres in the 2018 NHL Draft, Dahlin had 20 goals and 39 assists in 81 games last season.
The Swedish defenceman has appeared in the NHL All-Star Game the past three years.
Dahlin has 66 goals and 226 assists in 436 career games.
