Amazfit T-Rex Hands-on

Amazfit is known for its fitness and lifestyle-centric products, which include smartwatches, fitness bands, and TWS earphones, and sports gear. And when it comes to their latest smartwatches, the one that caught our eyes is the Amazfit T-Rex. As its name suggests, it’s a rugged smartwatch with hardware capable of keeping up with the most rugged user. Check out our initial thoughts on the smartwatch below.

The Amazfit T-Rex features a design that is usually found in rugged smartwatches. It’s bulky, has a sporty look, and is made of a combination of metal, plastic, and rubber materials. It comes in four colors: Gun Grey, Rock Black, Khaki, Army Green, and Camo Green, which is the unit we have on hand.

It has a 1.3-inch AMOLED Always-on-Display with 360 x 360 resolution with touch support and auto-brightness. Screen brightness is okay, although it would be nicer to have a higher resolution.

Protecting it is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with anti-fingerprint coating, and mounted on top of it is a metal bezel, fixed into the body by four screws.

Found at the bottom is a textured plastic panel that houses the sensors and magnetic metal contacts for charging.

The Amazfit T-Rex is equipped with plenty of sensors and connectivity features. This includes a BioTracker PPG Bio-Tracking Optical Sensor for 24 hours of high-precision heart rate monitoring, a 3-axis acceleration sensor, a geomagnetic sensor for the compass, an ambient light sensor, Bluetooth 5.0 BLE, GPS, and GLONASS.

The smartwatch can be further configured using the Zepp App (formerly known as the Amazfit App). From here, you can get more data on your physical activities, including Sleep score, Exercise record, and Goal tracker. You can also select from many watch faces available.

The Amazfit T-Rex, despite its size, feels light on the wrist at 58g. Although I wouldn’t wear it when sleeping. However, you can take a bath or go swimming with it as it has a 5ATM waterproofing.

Powering the Amazfit T-Rex is a 390mAh battery that can last up to 20 days in daily use scenario, which includes getting frequent notifications from your smartphone or running for 30 minutes every two days. If you’re heavily using its GPS tracking, it can last for up to 20 hours. But if you’re using it as a basic watch with its other sensors and connection turned off, you can make it last for up to 66 days.

Let’s talk about the price. The Amazfit T-Rex has an SRP of PHP 8,290 and is available at Digital Walker Stores. They’re offering a promo, though, where you can get it for PHP 7,790.
