Largest BPO companies in the Philippines by employee count

With over 1.4 million workers employed in information technology-business process outsourcing (IT-BPO) firms to date, this sector is regarded as one of the largest employment generators in the Philippines. While BPOs adjust with the transition towards the New Normal, growth has continued in this sector in the midst of the pandemic. Not all BPO firms, however, have exponentially increased their labor force during said span of time. Which of these BPO companies are leading the pack in terms of number of current employees? Conclusion

If we are to believe employee statistics available to us at this juncture, around 25 percent of all BPO employees in the Philippines are currently under the pay of the top 25 IT-BPO companies we have listed. This is a significant observation since in ecozones alone, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) noted that they have 1,274 IT-BPO companies as locators. The said count does not include locators in other business areas such as those administered by the Board of Investments (BOI). Taking these data into analysis, there may well be a significant number of BPO firms across the country having less than 500 employees, perhaps bordering the level of small and medium-sized enterprises (MSEs). Nonetheless, discussing the implications might be better left for another time.

The effects of newly enacted legislation such as the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE) Act and the Amended Public Service Act must also be taken into consideration. For one, the CREATE Act has priority for economic development outside Metro Manila and other developed areas. With tax perquisites for employers hanging into balance in the face of the “return to office” or “back to office” mandate, particularly for BPOs in ecozones, we will have to continue observing how this dynamic would develop for the industry in the near future.

Disclaimer: The employee count is limited to workers they have in the Philippines, albeit it is understandable that international operations of these BPO firms would account for them a greater number of employees besides what they currently employ in the Philippines. Besides the latest publicly available statistics, employee count estimates are integrated from professional databases such as that of the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and LinkedIn. Descriptions of the listed BPO companies were derived from official information they have provided. This list is organized in alphabetical order. Firms with no publicly available employee size are excluded.
