Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz has announced that the company is getting into the NFT business sometime this year.
Schultz made the announcement during an open forum for Starbucks workers amid a massive union drive.
“If you look at the companies, brands, celebrities, and influencers that are trying to create a digital NFT platform and business, I can’t find one of them that has the treasure trove of assets that Starbucks has, from collectibles to the entire areas of the company,” Schultz said during a speech.
He then on went to announce the company’s plan of going into the NFT business.
“So, here’s the secret – sometime before the end of this calendar year, we are going to be in the NFT business.”
No other details were provided, though, but it sounds exciting to fans of the Starbucks merch.
For those of you praying that I was kidding, here's the video proof.
