Late last month, Xiaomi released in the Philippines the budget-friendly Redmi 10C. For something that starts at around PHP 6K, the device offers a 6.71-inch screen, Snapdragon 680 chipset, 50MP dual-rear cameras, and a large 5,000mAh battery. If you’re interested in the device, read our first impressions here.
One of the first things I noticed about the Redmi 10C is that it’s large, which can be attributed to the large 6.71-inch HD+ screen that is protected by Gorilla Glass. This is not uncommon, though, in smartphones nowadays.
It uses a dewdrop design for the 5MP selfie camera. Placed above it is the earpiece. The bezels on the sides are thin but the chin is a bit thick.
Found on the left is the card tray for two nano-sized SIM cards and a dedicated microSD card.
On the right are the power/lock and volume buttons. They’re plastic, clicky but quiet. They’re placed just above the middle of the frame but still reachable.
Up top, we have the 3.5mm audio jack.
While down at the bottom is the main microphone, USB-C port, and loudspeaker.
At the back, we have the camera module for the 50MP main camera and 2MP depth camera. Also found here are the LED flash and fingerprint scanner.
The Redmi 10C is mostly made of plastic but feels well-made. The frame has this matte finish, while the back panel has this diagonal pattern that reminds us of carbon fiber. It looks good and doesn’t attract fingerprints that much.
The device is also a bit chunky at 8.3mm, but it actually feels thinner. You can still grip it with one hand, although navigating the UI would be more comfortable with two hands.
Powering the Redmi 10C is a Snapdragon 680 4G chipset with an octa-core CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz, Adreno 610 GPU, 4GB RAM, 64GB or 128GB of storage, and MIUI 13 based on Android 11. We ran AnTuTu v9 and we got a score of 235,553. We’ll know more about its performance in our full review.
The Redmi 10C is now available and priced at PHP 6,299 for the 4GB + 64GB, and PHP 7,299 for the 4GB + 128GB.
