Arizona Coyotes head coach Andre Tourigny has agreed to a three-year contract extension.
“We are very pleased to sign André to a three-year extension,” said general manager Bill Armstrong in the press release from the Coyotes. “He is an excellent coach, leader and communicator who has helped us establish a tremendous culture in our dressing room. Our players like him, respect him and compete hard for him. We are thrilled to have him signed as our head coach for the next three years.”
Tourigny, 49, was named the head coach for the Coyotes in 2021 after serving as an assistant for the Colorado Avalanche (2013-2015) and Ottawa Senators (2016).
He also had prior experience in a lead role as the head coach for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (2002-2013) and Halifax Mooseheads (2016-2017) of the QMJHL.
He served as the head coach for Team Canada at the 2023 IIHF World Championship, leading the team to a gold medal.
The Coyotes finished with a 28-40-14 record last season, good for seventh place in the Central Division. His overall record with the Coyotes is 53-90-21.
“I feel very lucky to work with our group of players as well,” Tourigny said in the press release. “The hard work and commitment to the team they have demonstrated the past two years has established the foundation of our culture. It’s an exciting time to be part of the Coyotes. My family and I love the Valley and we are thrilled to be committed long term in Arizona.”
