Keys, Azarenka withdraw from National Bank Open with injuries

American tennis star Madison Keys has withdrawn from the National Bank Open in Montreal with a hip injury.

Keys defeated Venus Williams in a first-round match on Monday. She was due to face Jasmine Paolini of Italy in the second round on Thursday.

Keys is currently ranked No. 15 in the world. She won the Eastbourne title earlier this year and also reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.

World No. 19 Victoria Azarenka also withdrew from the tournament after re-aggravating an injury during warmups ahead of a match against Sloane Stephens.

“I love Montreal and I look forward to coming back,” Azarenka wrote on Twitter.

Azarenka’s best result this season was reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open.
