Gadget Reviews Roundup: July 2021

The -ber months are almost here, but we still have a month to go and more devices will come out soon. But before that, let’s take a look at the devices we reviewed last month, which includes the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6, nubia REDMAGIC 6R, and the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2. Read our Gadget Reviews Roundup for the month of July.

Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 (2021)

The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 comes at a hefty price of PHP 55,999. It’s quite eye-popping, but we can say that it’s justified with its awesome premium features and performance, especially with the touch of HarmonyOS. It’s definitely recommendable for creatives, professionals, and students who have the budget for it. Plus, if you’re already drawn to Huawei’s ecosystem with a laptop, smartphone, or wearables, then this would work great for you.

Huawei MatePad 10.4 (2021)

The 2021 Huawei MatePad 10.4 (2021) is just the same as its 2020 model except for an updated processor and GPU. For the price of PHP 18,999, you’ll get pretty good sounding speakers, long battery life, M Pencil support, and good performance for its class. However, it can be a bit difficult to recommend to users who are not accustomed to side-loading.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17 (GX703)

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17, especially this model, is the most powerful offering in the company’s latest line of gaming laptops powered by Intel 11th-gen CPUs. The last ROG Zephyrus that blew us away was the Zephyrus Duo 15 with its secondary screen. In the case of the S17, the company makes that second attempt by equipping it with a keyboard with optical mechanical switches. This is good news if you’re a user that likes these kinds of switches. However, some users might not appreciate it, especially those already used to using their own mechanical keyboards. The multi-wheel, on the other hand, is more for convenience. Good to have, nonetheless.

nubia REDMAGIC 6R

The REDMAGIC 6R is the kind of device for users who want the performance and features of a gaming smartphone without the bulk. It doesn’t have flashy features but instead focuses on things that matter the most, like display, chipset, memory, battery, advanced wireless connectivity, and cooling. Our only gripe is the lack of stereo speakers and the odd placement of the loudspeaker. But other than that, this is a great gaming phone to have if you’re on a budget.

Nokia G10

The Nokia G10 is one device that we consider a good daily driver for casual users. It’s affordable, has decent cameras and performance, and long battery life. It’s not for those who want to play graphic-intensive games given the entry-level chipset. The small RAM and storage add to that limitation as well. It’s good for social media use, online classes, or entertainment. Should you buy it? If you’re on a tight budget, the Nokia G10 is a good option for PHP 6,990. But if you can stretch the budget a bit, even for a couple of thousand pesos, you might find a better alternative.

Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2

It’s no longer surprising to see how gaming smartphones are getting the hype nowadays. The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 indeed deserves the hype with the premium look and flagship performance. It’s got the looks, a great display, immersive speakers, great performance with good thermal management, powerful charging capabilities, and it’s loaded with gaming features that can satisfy competitive gamers. It’s got a competitive price tag, too.
