Just got an early morning call today from a Globe representative telling me that my subscription is eligible for an upgrade to 400Mbps from the old 100Mbps by adding only Php600 in my monthly service fee.
So I agreed to the upgrade which would change my plan from Php2,899 to Php3,499 and that should take effect within the next 7 days. I’ve had this subscription since 2016 so I’m out of the lock-in period, there will be no new contractual period for this upgrade.
I checked the latest fiber internet plans from Globe and it seems they no longer offer the Plan 2899 and the speeds have already been bumped up as well. That’s 150Mbps for Php2,099 and 300Mbps for Php2,699 so it just makes sense that the old Plan 2899 had to evolve in favor of a higher speed plan.
Since there isn’t really a standard 400Mbps plan in Globe’s current line-up, I think this upgrade is a custom one for subscribers who are stuck with the old 100Mbps/Php2,899 plan from years back.
From a business standpoint, this is the most logical path — the 500Mbps standard plan is a bit far off (Php4,999 from Php2,899) for an upgrade while the new 300Mbps plan (at Php2,699) would result in a reduced MSF of Php200 if Globe had to upgrade the plan (100Mbps/2,899 -> 300Mbps/2699). A custom 400Mbps speed plan at Php3,499 looks like the sweet spot. So I said yes and now waiting for the new speed upgrade.
Anyone else received the same call this week?
