Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Mikhail Sergachev will not play in Thursday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, head coach Jon Cooper confirmed to reporters.
Sergachev is dealing with a lower-body injury he suffered Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues and Cooper said he is considered day to day.
“Day to day. One, maybe two games. That would be my guess,” Cooper told reporters.
Sergachev was injured after blocking a shot from Blues defenceman Colton Parayko late in the first period, which appeared to hit him in the back of the leg. He remained on the ice, but skated gingerly to the bench shortly after.
The 25-year-old defenceman has two goals and 19 points in 32 games for the Lightning this season.
Originally a ninth-overall pick by the Montreal Canadiens at the 2016 NHL Draft, Sergachev was traded to the Lightning in 2017 as part of the package that sent Jonathan Drouin to Montreal.
