Senators’ Chabot undergoes MRI, ruled out vs. Rangers

Ottawa Senators defenceman Thomas Chabot will not play in Tuesday’s game against the New York Rangers while forward Ridly Greig is set to make his return after a 10-game absence, head coach D.J. Smith announced.

Chabot is awaiting results of an MRI, Smith added, for an apparent lower-body injury suffered on Saturday against the Seattle Kraken.

The Senators have listed Greig on Tuesday’s starting lineup, while Chabot is absent.

Chabot fell into the boards hard against the Kraken. He went to the bench in pain but later returned.

Chabot fractured his hand on Oct. 26 and missed 10 games before returning for Friday’s 4-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Greig, who sustained a lower-body injury on Nov. 2, was activated from the long-term injured reserve on Monday.

The Senators will take on a red-hot Rangers squad, who have gone 8-2-0 in their last 10 games.
