Buffalo Sabres top defenceman Owen Power will miss at least a week with a left hand injury, head coach Don Granato said in a radio interview Tuesday.
Power was injured after he was struck by a puck at practice on Monday. After the practice, Granato told reporters Power would need to undergo imaging on his hand before a timeline could be determined.
“He’s going to be out today for certain and probably the next few games unfortunately,” Granato said on “The Jeremy and Joe Show” on WGR550 in Buffalo. “Not long term but at least a week and maybe a couple.”
Power, in his third season, has 18 points in 51 games this season and is second on the team with 22:28 of ice time per game.
“Obviously, a little like our team he’s struggled at times but you see the underlying talent,” Granato said of Power. “Certainly he has not been a disappointment, he is still one heck of a hockey player, even when he is challenged.”
Jacob Bryson will take Power’s spot in the lineup when the Sabres host the Kings Tuesday night.
