TikTok has recently given a preview of its latest AR filter that makes the most out of iPhone 12 Pro’s LiDAR sensor.
As tweeted by Tiktok, its first augmented reality (AR) filter is a ball drop for 2021. It comes with a cartoonish 2021 text in gold, with silver and gold confetti interacting in the environment to make it more realistic.
To ring in 2021 we released our first AR effect on the new iPhone 12 Pro, using LiDAR technology which allows us to create effects that interact with your environment – visually bridging the digital and physical worlds. The new AR filter works better with the iPhone 12 Pro and takes advantage of the smartphone’s LiDAR sensor.
TikTok also said that it will further work on innovative effects on its own platform in 2021.
This isn’t the first time that a tech company has worked on Apple’s LiDAR sensor for content creation. Last October, Snapchat announced support for the LiDAR sensor present on select Apple devices such as iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
