Kia Motors Philippines has recently announced its plans for 2021, including launching two new models and targeting to hit triple-digit sales growth.
Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada has shared the company’s plan to “unbox” at least two new models this year, hence adding significant sales to the company’s top three sellers in 2020: the Soluto subcompact sedan, the K2500 business and utility truck, and the recently launched Stonic crossover. The Soluto got 39% of its total sales, followed by the K2500 with 17%. The Stonic—albeit being has sold 200 units in December garnered 16% of total deliveries. The Seltos, Sportage, Picanto, Sorento, Carnival, and the rest of Kia’s roster have contributed to the total sales.
The company sold 2,129 units in 2020. It has recognized that the entire local automotive industry has suffered a 40% decline in sales (for a year-end total of just 240,000 units sold) due to the Covid-19 pandemic and community and business lockdowns. Due to this, Kia Philippines has poised for a big rebound in 2021.
However, there’s no word yet about the two new models to be released, but Kia Philippines has mentioned the possibility of unveiling two more.
Aligada also shared that Kia Philippines would intensify digital efforts this year. The company will also showcase its roster through a series of activities, starting with the “My Year, My Kia” program to help customers acquire Kia units. Moreover, in the early second half of 2021, the Kia brand refresh would shift the positioning from “value-for-money” to “valuable,” forming a connection with its customers.
Kia also targets to enter a new era of brand transformation.
Dealership expansion is also part of Kia Philippines’ targets, as it moves to grow its current dealer network of 40 with five more openings and appointments. Kia Philippines has committed to improving parts availability using reliable partners for direct delivery, wherein parts would be available at the dealer within seven days, enhancing service quality and lead time with real-time technical support using a remote diagnosis system and granting lower cost of ownership. These cover the Promise to Care program, in which customers are assured with the five-year warranty or 160,000 kilometers, whichever comes first (the K2500 comes with a three-year or 110,000 km-warranty), and the free 24/7 Roadside Assistance for the first five years.
Meanwhile, despite the target plans, Aligada recognizes that challenges may be present along the way. “These new challenges will always be there, but Kia Philippines will remain resilient and strong-willed. After all, our Power to Surprise springs from our drive to serve,” Aligada concluded.
