Telegram now allows users to import chat history from other messaging apps

Telegram has recently included an Import Chat History feature from other messaging apps on its latest software update.

The new feature allows Telegram users to migrate individual and group chat history from KakaoTalk, Line, and WhatsApp to Telegram. It is now available on both Android and iOS users.

Here’s how to do it on WhatsApp:

  1. Open the Contact Info or Group Info page in WhatsApp iOS. To export chats directly from the chat list,  swipe left on a chat. For Android users, open a WhatsApp chat then choose More.
  2. Tap Export Chat.
  3. Choose Telegram in the Share menu.

Do note that messages will be imported into the current day but will also include their original timestamps. All members of the chat on Telegram will see the messages.

Other improvements on the software update include freeing up space, controlling cache size, chat and call deletion for both receiver and sender, group chat deletion for all participating members, adjust volumes individually for voice chats, fast forward and rewind music playback speed in the built-in music player, new animations and stickers for Android users, and report fake channels and groups that are impersonating celebrities or organizations.

To enjoy the latest Telegram features, make sure to update the app on your device.
