The automotive industry has suffered greatly from the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. Several carmakers have already suspended production and operations worldwide, and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is the latest addition to this growing list.
Mitsubishi recently announced that several of its production plants will temporarily close due to the pandemic’s adverse effects on the market. As a matter of fact, the Japanese carmaker already shut down its first production line in Mizushima on March 27. The closure is effective until April 10.
The other Mitsubishi plants will follow suit. The second production line at Mizushima Plant in Okayama will be closed from April 6 to 23, while the Okazaki Plant in Aichi will halt operations from April 9 to 17. Pajero Manufacturing will temporarily stop production in Gifu from April 13 to 20.
Here in our market, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) already suspended operations almost a month ago—it was one of the several carmakers affected by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine. To read more on that, click here.
