The first shared telco tower in the Philippines recently concludes its construction. The initiative was made possible by the Department of Information and Communications Technology, in partnership with LCS Holdings Inc., through Thai tech group Ua Withya Public Co.
Located at Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, the first independent common tower in the Philippines can accommodate the three telcos. It bears the Site ID PH0100008 and can be found in these specific coordinates: 17.54861, 120.38167.
The construction, which finished last April 28, 2020, marks the Philippines’ move in expanding facilities for connectivity in preparation for 5G. Controlled by Ilocos politician Luis Chavit Singson, the LCS Holdings Inc. has identified 6,000 possible sites and is aiming to build 70,000 towers in the next decade.
