Messenger Rooms rolls out globally

Facebook starts to roll out the Messenger Rooms in smartphones and desktops, a new feature under the Messenger app, which allows users to host a video chat room up to 50 people.

Unlike any other video conference rooms, this feature does not have a time limit. Rooms can also be created either on Messenger or Facebook. Users can also control the privacy of the room and invite others who do not have a Facebook account by sharing a link. For more information, you may read the privacy and security guidelines for the Messenger Rooms here.

To activate the feature, users are required to update their Facebook and Messenger apps on mobile and desktops. Once updated, they can open the Messenger app, find and go to the People tab on the bottom right, and tap Create a Room. Some users may also find the feature in  Groups or in their News Feed.

As of this writing, the feature is available through the Messenger desktop and mobile apps in iOS and Android. Those who are in North America may use their Facebook News Feed to create a video chat room.
