Facebook is taking measures to ensure the posts you see come from real people, and not from bots or those trying to conceal their identity.
Starting in the US, Facebook profiles with high reach will be verified via ID, similar to those who manage Pages. While users may choose not to verify their accounts, the consequence of doing so would mean that “the distribution of their viral post will remain reduced so fewer people will see it. In addition, if the person posting is a Page admin, they’ll need to complete Page Publishing Authorization and will not be able to post from their Page until their account is verified through our existing Page Publisher Authorization process.”
This movement is part of Facebook’s efforts to create accountability on its platform and improve people’s experience with the app.
