iOS 14 detects other 53 apps snooping in on clipboard

Apart from TikTok, iOS 14 detects other 53 apps that are accessing the clipboard content on Apple devices.

Researchers Talal Haj Bakry and Tommy Mysk initially discovered last March that some apps categorized under mobile games, social networking, and news are retrieving the text data stored in the clipboard. According to their recent interview with Ars Technica, the said apps haven’t stopped snooping in on the user’s clipboard.

The recent feature added on the iOS 14 beta notifies users when an installed app is reading the last copied text in the smartphone’s clipboard.

According to the researchers, the apps, when opened, may share sensitive text data with other nearby Apple devices which has the same Apple ID. The clipboard is used for storing and pasting important information such as emails, passwords, and contact numbers.
