iPhones detect TikTok accessing clipboard content

iPhone has recently detected that the video-sharing platform TikTok is accessing the content on the device’s clipboard.

The recent feature added on the iOS 14 beta notifies users when an installed app is reading the last copied text in the smartphone’s clipboard. A video on Twitter uploaded by user Jeremy Burge reveals that even when it is running on the background, TikTok can check his iPhone’s clipboard every few keystrokes.

This has sparked fear for other iOS users since clipboard usually stores important information when users need to copy and paste something from their iPhones. This includes emails, passwords, and contact numbers.

According to the report from Forbes, TikTok has submitted a newer version of the app to the App Store to solve it. The representative also shared that it is an anti-spam feature from the app that triggers the notification banner from the iOS 14.

However, the Android version of the app hasn’t discovered any similar issues yet.

iOS users are advised to update their TikTok app once the update is made available in the App Store. Users should be careful when using the app before the release of the patch.
