LTO temporary suspends the issuance of student-driver permits from July 1, 2020 to August 3, 2020, following the Memorandum Circular 2019-2176 issued December last year.
As stated by LTO Chief Edgar Galvante on his live interview on DZMM Teleradyo, student-driver permit applicants will now be required to take a 15-hour theoretical driving course. It is composed of three sessions, including Introduction to traffic laws, Land Transportation-Related Special Laws, and general driving.
Originally slated for implementation last April 2020, the program was postponed due to the lockdown.
LTO is currently working with driving schools to set-up facilities where prospective student drivers may enroll for the said course. There are no details yet as to when the course will be offered.
