Sega Game Gear Micro launches in Japan

Sega has launched in Japan its new tiny handheld gaming console with built-in classic games, the Sega Game Gear Micro.

The tiny console was released in celebration of the upcoming 30th anniversary of the original Game Gear, which launched in Japan on October 6, 1990. It measures 80mm wide, 43mm high, and 20mm thick, and is less than 40% of the size of the original Game Gear.

It sports a 1.15-inch screen, control buttons, volume control, headphone jack, mono speaker, and micro-USB port for power. Although it can also be powered by two AAA batteries. Sega is also offering the “Big Window Micro” which works as a magnifying glass for the screen.

The console is available in four colors with different games built-in.

• Puyo Puyo 2
• Out Run
• Royal Stone

Blue:
• Sonic Chaos
• Gunstar Heroes
• Sylvan Tale
• Baku Baku Animal

Yellow:
• Shining Force Gaiden: Ensei – Jashin no Kuni he
• Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya
• Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict
• Nazopuyo Aruru no Ru

Red:
• Revelations: The Demon Slayer
• Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special
• The GG Shinobi
• Columns

The Sega Game Gear Micro is priced at JPY 4,980 each and will be available in Japan on October 6, 2020.
