realme 7 Pro Hands-On

Most of you can remember the realme 6 Pro that was just released earlier this year. There are a lot of things we liked about it, including the 90Hz refresh rate display, 2X optical zoom telephoto, and unique back aesthetic. Now, we have the realme 7 Pro on hand. It’s got great specs on paper, so let’s see what it has to offer.

From the get-go, the realme 7 Pro looks good. Even with a polycarbonate body, it seems elegant with its frosted back, which they say is a water-repellent coating. Like its standard version, it touts a mirror space design and creates this fantastic light effect when you move the device in different directions. Our unit is in Mirror Blue, but there’s also a Mirror Silver variant that looks equally premium.

Here at the back, we’ll find its rectangular quad-camera setup as well as the realme branding. In the hands, the realme 7 Pro feels solid and sturdy. The curved sides make it comfortable to hold; however, a one-handed operation can be quite tricky if you have small hands. It’s also quite a smudge magnet, so better use the jelly case that comes from the box.

Found at the top left corner of the screen is a punch-hole for its front-facing camera and the call speaker above. We’ll also find a secondary speaker. It has a dual speaker setup, and we like the hi-res quality.

On the right side, we have the power button with a gold accent on it.

While on the left side, we’ll find its volume rocker and the triple card tray with a dedicated microSD slot that is expandable up to 256GB.

Up top, we have the secondary noise-canceling microphone.

Meanwhile, the bottom houses the primary microphone, loudspeaker, 3.5mm audio port, and USB Type-C port.

In terms of display, the realme 7 Pro sports a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2400 and a pixel density of 409ppi. It’s also protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. However, unlike its standard version, the realme 7 Pro doesn’t come with a 90Hz refresh rate. But despite that, the screen still looks great and offers punchy and vibrant colors, as you would expect from an AMOLED panel.

For cameras, we get a quad-rear camera setup consisting of a 64MP Sony IMX682 F1.8 (primary sensor), 8MP F2.3 (ultra-wide), 2MP F2.4 (B&W), and 2MP F2.4 (macro lens). Meanwhile, for selfies, we have a 32MP in-display shooter. Both the rear and front camera features the Nightscape Mode.

Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G octa-core processor, Adreno 618 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage. So far, everything’s running smoothly. For software, it’s running on Realme UI based on Android 10.

Giving power to the device is a decent 4,500mAh battery w/ 65W SuperDart fast charging. Realme claims that this technology can fuel up your phone from 0-100% in 34 minutes. Let’s see if the company can affirm its claim in our full review.

Although it’s kind of a miss that the Pro version lacks “pro” functionality like the 90Hz refresh rate and perhaps a bigger battery capacity found in its standard version, we still think that it’s still an interesting device, especially when it comes to its 65W SuperDart fast charging.
