Qualcomm has released its latest 5G-ready mobile processor that succeeds the Snapdragon 865 Plus.
Dubbed as the Snapdragon 870 5G, the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System and the Qualcomm FastConnect 6800 Subsystem are the processor sports. The octa-core processor was built on a 7nm processor using Kryo 585 cores based on four Cortex-A77 mated four Cortex A55. It has a maximum clock speed of 3.2GHz that delivers increased performance from its predecessor.
Moreover, the chipset is expected to deliver improved performance and power efficiency for AI tasks with 15 tera operations per second (TOPS) through the Hexagon 698 processor with Hexagon Tensor Accelerator.
The processor comes with an Adreno 650 GPU and a full suite of Snapdragon Elite Gaming technologies for a seamless gaming experience. It supports Bluetooth 5.2, HDR10+, up to 144Hz QHD+ displays, up to 200MP main camera, Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+, Dolby Vision, Wi-Fi 6, and 4K video recording with simultaneous 64MP photo capture.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G will debut on Motorola. OnePlus, OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi smartphones are slated to release in the first quarter of 2021.
