Summary of advantages

Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G:
• Slightly larger screen
• Higher touch sampling rate
• Gorilla Glass Victus
• Higher main camera resolution
• Telemacro lens
• Larger battery
• Faster charging rate

realme GT 5G:
• Higher display pixel count
• 3.5mm audio jack

Display

The two devices sport large screens above 6-inches. The Xiaomi 11T Pro has a slightly larger size at 6.67-inch against the realme GT 5G at 6.43-inch. The 0.24-inch difference, though, wouldn’t be noticeable. Both also have the Same FHD+ resolutions, with the Xiaomi having a 395ppi pixel density against the realme’s 409ppi. Again, the 14ppi difference is negligible.

The Xiaomi features an AMOLED panel, while the realme has Super AMOLED. Both provide deep blacks, punchy colors, and great contrast. Both also have high refresh rates topping at 120Hz, but the Xiaomi uses an Adaptive Sync tech that lowers the refresh rate based on the task. It also has a higher 480Hz touch sampling rate versus the 360Hz on the realme which provides better touch responsiveness when playing games.

For protection, the Xiaomi has the advantage of sporting Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Chipset, Memory, and Storage

Interestingly, both devices sport the same chipset, RAM, and storage configurations. We’re talking about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC, Adreno 660 GPU, 8GB/12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1. Both don’t support microSD cards.

Since the two devices have the same configuration, we can expect the same level of performance. But we’ll know more once we have the units for review so we can benchmark.

Cameras

Both are equipped with triple-rear cameras. The Xiaomi has a 108MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, and 5MP telemacro, while the realme has a 64MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro. The realme, on the other hand, has a 64MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro. For selfies, both have 16MP shooters.

In this case, the Xiaomi wins for having a higher main camera resolution and a dual-purpose telemacro lens. But this is just sensor resolution and doesn’t always equate to quality. We’ll know once we have both units for review.

Connectivity and Features

The two devices have Dual-SIM with Dual 5G support, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, and USB-C. Both also have fingerprint scanners but of different types and placements. The Xiaomi has it on the side, while the realme uses an in-display scanner.

Both devices also have dual speakers but the one on Xiaomi is tuned by Harman Kardon, but the realme has a 3.5mm audio jack, which is good news to those who want to use their favorite wired headphones. However, the Xiaomi makes up for it for having IP53 dust and splash resistance.

For the software, both are running on Android 11 using their own custom skins.

Battery

The Xiaomi takes the cake with a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging, while the realme has a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging. We’ll know more about which one can provide the longest battery once we have reviewed them.

Given the power of the Snapdragon 888 5G, both are also equipped with their own cooling tech. Xiaomi uses LiquidCool, while the realme has Stainless Steel Vapour Cooling.

Which one to get?

It’s a landslide win for the Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G. It has a better display, camera configuration, IP53 protection, and a bigger battery with faster charging tech. The realme GT 5G, on the other hand, gets a slightly higher pixel count and has a 3.5mm audio jack.

The pricing could sway readers, though. If the realme is priced lower then that could be a great option for those on a budget. Unfortunately, both are yet to arrive in the Philippines, so we’ll just have to wait.
